E2M is an innovative economic solution to the social, economic, and environmental problems we face as communities and individuals.
What is E2M? There is a growing consensus among people of all backgrounds that current strategies for solving the social, economic, and environmental problems we face as communities and individuals are simply not working. E2M is an innovative economic solution to these problems—it is an economic model for millennium 2000.
E2M.org is an organization that has identified the root cause of many of our society’s problems, and has found that it is easier to eliminate this root cause than it is to solve any of the individual problems it creates. E2M.org is establishing the first E2M Economic Community in Western Massachusetts to directly attack this root cause.
The Root Cause: Most individuals and institutions make financial investments with the goal of achieving maximum profits and maximum growth. In fact, corporations are required by law to maximize profits and growth for their investors and stockholders. The demand for maximum profits and maximum growth results in an unsustainable economy with a focus on maximizing profits that benefits relatively few investors while it overuses ever-decreasing environmental resources, promotes rampant consumerism, creates inequitable concentrations of wealth and economic power, and values profits more than people and communities. The investment goal of achieving maximum profits and maximum growth is the root cause of many of our most serious social, economic, and environmental problems.
What’s the Solution? In order to create large-scale positive change in our society, we must institutionalize an additional new investment goal of adequate profits and sustainable growth for the common good. This requires a powerful long-term investor who will embrace this new investment goal. E2M.org has identified this investor—it is the community itself! The E2M economic model enables regional communities to create the significant wealth they need to become powerful investors that can institutionalize new community-conscious investment goals and fund the social, economic, and environmental initiatives that can ensure a brighter future for everyone.
